Roots, Shoots & Fruits

Who we are

Roots, Shoots & Fruits supply mineral nutrition and beneficial organisms to help NZers GROW BETTER!

How we started

"The concept of using microorganisms to improve plant health is not new," says Molly, the Managing Director. "My father and grandfather had mixed farms of poultry, cattle, sheep, fruit orchards and vineyards in Australia. They introduced me to the practice of using Trichoderma. I was amazed at this crazy new product that used living organisms!"

"Well ahead of their time in terms of technology on their farms, they put in underground sprinkler irrigation to grow top quality lucerne hay for export to the bloodstock markets in Japan, while other farmers were still into flood irrigation.” Molly is rightfully proud of their foresight.

This non-traditional practice of using naturally occurring organisms to benefit farming outcomes piqued Molly's interest, it was a time when conservation and sustainability were little thought about and DDT was still mixed by hand.

Their parents were visionaries and now it was their time. So disillusioned with the tools on offer to producers in New Zealand, they opened Roots, Shoots & Fruits, which has not looked back. There are now numerous other companies who have moved with the times looking at the benefits of biological growth, but Tim and Molly are proud knowing they were the first and possibly the spark.

Our commitment to organics

Our mission at Roots, Shoots & Fruits is to support New Zealand growers to produce quality, nutrient dense food. By growing healthier more resilient plants we can reduce costs and also reduce reliance on synthetic fungicides, pesticides and fertilisers that can be harmful to humans and the environment.

We do this by distributing organic fertilisers and plant nutritional products to farmers, growers and home gardeners. These can replace the synthetic chemicals widely used, and produce impressive results, including faster plant growth, increased crop yields, healthier soils and plants more resistant to disease.

We believe growers should be informed of and given the choice of utilising new advanced tools, sparking the desire to become visionaries for our future and leading New Zealand to become the food bowl for the world.
